The Young Uns

20th March 2019

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have a visit from a northern folk group called The Young Uns. They ran a workshop with each class where they told stories and taught the children folk songs linked to each story. They used a range of outfits and props to engage the children in the drama of the stories and every class had a fantastic time working with the group.  All the members of the group had strong northern accents, which was only a problem in helping the children understand the name of the group. The phrase Young’Uns is outside many of our children’s experience, especially when pronounced with a northern accent, and many of Class Two are still convince the group are called The Onions!! At the end of the day we were treated to a wonderful concert from them and the children really enjoyed listening to the live music.
