Carnivals and Pancakes!

1st March 2022

Tuesday 1st March was Shrove Tuesday and we marked the date in school in a range of ways. We started with collective worship on Monday where we though as a school about why we have Shrove Tuesday, how long it lasts for and reminded ourselves of the 40 days and night Jesus spent in the desert.

On Tuesday, the children in Key Stage One all practiced their maths skills to weigh out the ingredients and make pancakes – and so that the pancakes did not go to waste, they then just had to eat them! They made so many they were able to deliver some to Blue Class as a surprise treat!

We also had a visit from Divergent Drama who led a workshop for each class to teach us all about the origins of Carnival and the significance of Mardi Gras.

The children had great fun using drama to learn about the history of carnival and then had the chance to learn how to do the samba.
