Young Voices Concert 2020

23rd January 2020

On Friday 24th January 26 excited children and four equally excited adults from school went to the O2 to participate in the Young Voices concert. We left school mid-morning and arrived in time to have a picnic lunch outside the impressive O2 arena. Then it was inside to get ready for our 2pm rehearsal.

This year we were lucky enough to be allocated two hospitality suites as our seats so we had the luxury of soft comfortable seats, our own area with a sink and seating to eat our picnic tea and access to the posh toilets without a queue!

From 2pm until 5pm we rehearsed the show with the professional musicians – we were lucky enough to sing with Tony Hadley (from Spandau Ballet) and The Shires! The children were especially excited and impressed by the moves from the street dance team Urban Striders.

We had a break to have a rest and eat our picnic tea and then at 6pm the audience started to arrive and fill the arena. We managed to spot our parents sitting on the opposite side of the area before the lights went down and the shoe started. It was such fun! Over 7,500 children singing and dancing together, performing the songs they had been practicing separately in their own schools for several months. Thanks to the hard work of Mrs. McGregor our choir were word perfect!

Hopefully the photos and short video clips will give you a taste of what the children experienced. They all had an incredible time and several were asking on the coach home about next year!
