Christmas celebrations

19th December 2022

For the first Christmas in several years, our traditional festivities were not interrupted by COVID! It was lovely to be able to have families back in the school hall to watch our younger children perform the nativity play. This year was a modern play that combined Strictly Come Dancing with the nativity story! Every group of characters from the nativity story performed a different dance and their efforts were judged by a panel made up of the donkey, the inn keeper’s wife and a rather mean Emperor! It was great fun to watch and the children were all fantastic.

This Christmas we were also able to return to church for our end of term Christmas service – definitely my favourite service of the year. Traditionally, the oldest children in the school read the nativity story and the youngest children are dressed in costumes and form a living picture of the nativity to go with the readings. In between the readings we sing our favourite carols – it is a lovely, uplifting way to end the term.

The Infant Bazaar - the children in KS1 get the chance to buy Christmas present for their families - helped by the older children in Y5/6 to choose and wrap them. the money raised goes to The Milton Children's Hospice.
Class Christmas parties - complete with a visit from Father Christmas.

Every year during December we hold a reverse advent calendar and collect food items for families in need. on the last morning of term they are carried across and placed in the village foodbank in the church; this ear we have six large bags of food to donate.
Christmas lunch in school
At the start of December we had an empty wooden manger. children were given pieces of straw for every act of kindness - by the end of the term we had a manger full of straw to make a comfy bed for baby Jesus.
