Children's Mental Health Week 2023
6th February 2023
The last week of school before February half term was National Children’s mental health week; this year’s theme was Let’s Connect and focused on the importance of connecting with others for our mental well-being. The children in the Ministry of Well-Being organised a fantastic series of activities in school for us all to connect with each other. Every day there was a different challenge to encourage us to connect with each other by using smiles, being helpful, dancing and sharing stories together. My favourite of all these activities has to be the whole school learning the line dance the Jerusalema in P.E. lessons and then having a mass whole school dance session on the playground. It was great fun and definitely a great boost to well-being; staff and pupils joined in with such enthusiasm that a couple of staff members had sore muscles the following day!The children also organised a home challenge; every child took home the “making connections paperchain challenge” to carry on with over the half term. Their task was to decorate a paperchain link and add it to their paperchain every time they connected with someone over the holiday.
